You have questions. We have answers.

Material Security collects cloud office data, including cloud office metadata, user-generated content, and account information, solely to provide the services that protect your cloud office and productivity applications. The data is processed to generate security reports, help you make informed security decisions, and take necessary actions to maintain the security properties of your environment. Material Security acts as a data processor on the customer's behalf, and its use of information received from cloud providers adheres to strict limited-use requirements. Material Security does not sell or trade your Personal Data, and it is deleted following the cancellation or termination of your use of the Service. Please see our privacy policy for full details.

No–not unless you request one. Upon filling out the Free Trial Form, you'll receive an email containing an authentication link to connect your cloud workspace to Material. Upon successful authentication, the platform will begin analyzing your data. You'll have an introductory meeting with one of our security engineers to review your initial risk findings and get a personalized tour of the Material platform, after which you’ll have 7 days to review the findings and see how Material performs in your environment.

After filling out the form, you will receive a welcome email outlining the process and providing resources for any questions or concerns you have. After that, within 2 business days, you will receive a follow-up email with a dedicated link to grant permissions for Material to analyze your environment.

Once scopes are granted, Material will begin ingesting and analyzing the data. Depending on the size of your environment, this can take between 1-3 days, after which you will meet with a security engineer to review a summary report of initial findings, including the most critical risks and vulnerabilities in your cloud office environment. This is a no-pressure, informative call to introduce you to Material and give you a guided tour of Material itself and answer any questions you may have about it.

Note that email security results may not be ready by this report–depending on the size of your environment and the email volume, it may take up to a week for Material to fully analyze your email posture.

rom there, you will have 7 days to review the risk reports, analyze the findings, see email, file, and account vulnerabilities in your environment. You’ll be able to export all reports as necessary. You can, if you wish, enable Material’s automated remediations (this requires putting the platform into write mode).

No, not unless you set the platform to do so. Material will run in read-only mode unless you enable its remediation capabilities: no changes will be made to your environment unless you explicitly set the platform to do so. We find most customers wish to see Material’s findings at first as they get comfortable with the platform, and then enable remediations to see the breadth and depth of Material’s remediations.

How top security teams use Material

"We knew critical aspects of Google's Workspace native security wouldn't scale as our company got bigger, which is why we came to Material.”

“I think it’s important to look at the cloud office at a wider holistic level and not just at the point of entry. Understanding its whole life cycle and even what’s being done with it when resting is critical to protecting that platform. Material does that very well.”

“I've seen amazing improvements in our ability to react, relying on well-trusted mechanisms from Material. With just one click, we can disable phishing emails.”

“There's been advancements in security technologies such as Material Security that use machine learning and AI to enable organizations to better detect and prevent those email-based threats in real time.”

“We started to replace incumbent partners with those that give a broader lens into what's actually going on within the organization. Moving to Material has been a huge win for us. We gained visibility and curbed some of the risks within our environment.”

“Something that really stuck out to us was posture management as an element of the tool – there's a lot of really good context that would be hard to find in Google otherwise.“

“One of the big things that makes Material unique in this space is their team, which is professional to an extraordinary degree.”
